Letter from National Director

When I think about how Soul Purpose began at The University of Toledo, I think about the momentum that carried it through all the ups and downs. What was behind that momentum was hearts and souls of girls who caught a vision - an idea that girls deserve a place where they were welcomed in and transformed through knowing their value and worth. As this idea rippled through this campus, and unto Tiffin University that same message spoke to women and empowered them to live with confidence in who they were created to be. Leading this organization is locking arms with the fearless, bold, and loved daughters of Christ, ones that catch a glimpse of the vision and are ready to run the race set before them. It’s all about relationships, encouragement, and trust.

Letter from Toledo Pregnancy Center Executive Director

Dear Director,

The fact that you’re reading through this curriculum means that you are at least willing to consider out of the box thinking, which I applaud you for! I can still remember the day that Kayla, the creator and founder of the Soul Purpose programming, came into my office with this “out of the box” idea. In that moment I believed that God was on it, and I have seen that over and over again as we’ve seen Soul Purpose grow not only on our home campus of the University of Toledo but also onto other campuses. I am excited for the potential of seeing what Soul Purpose can do for the college campus near you, for your Center and for your community.

Most of what you will see in this curriculum is meant for your Campus Director, but as the Director I felt it was important for you to hear from a fellow Director on what to expect and what to plan for! The purpose of Soul Purpose is to create a Christ centered outreach on campuses to help female college students experience/understand their value worth and identity through the Lord and to help them live out of that reality every day. So much of the role of the Campus Director is to establish relationships with the leadership team so that they are equipped to lead other students. As you know, leading people is difficult and sometimes it takes a long time to see the fruit of our labor.

As the Executive Director, you will find that encouraging your Campus Director as they build will be vital to this role. While we saw that Soul Purpose breathed life and excited our organization, our donors, and the community what we did find a challenge is how to paint a picture of what Soul Purpose can look like. My hopes are that this curriculum will help you catch the vision for it. I do know the challenge for you is continuing to vision cast for the board, the organization and your donors. We’ve found that simple and concise has been key and that the God breathed results speak for itself.

Does Soul Purpose belong inside of Pregnancy Centers? We believe that answer is yes. We have seen this out of the box, upstream approach to making abortion unthinkable do far more imaginable than we could have thought. We are seeing God speaking to the most abortion vulnerable group (college aged women) in beautiful ways. We’ve seen women step away from risky behavior; we’ve seen students connect with God in a real way, in a long time. We’ve seen moms on campus feel supported in their pursuit of their degree while mothering. All of which are helping to make abortion unthinkable!

Lastly, know that you are being prayed for. We know the challenges, the growth pains, the ups and downs and the “in-between” you’ll face as you move into launching Soul Purpose on your college campus.

Note from Tiffin Executive Director

We partnered with Soul Purpose to help us launch a campus ministry and it was everything we had hoped for and more! It was so nice to have a game plan in place to begin the process. Every campus is different and although we had our own unique challenges, the Toledo Soul Purpose team was there supporting, encouraging and problem solving with us! We asked a lot of questions and they always responded back to us graciously and promptly. This ministry can be used for all campus sizes. Our college is a smaller campus and it worked beautifully. It’s designed to be adaptable and leaves plenty of room for your own creativity while giving you a great starting point and solid foundation. It has been amazing to see our leaders grow in their abilities and gifts. It has also been beautiful to watch the diversity of female students come together, do a fun activity, laugh and be unified in a culture that promotes differences. We are so thankful for the opportunity to partner with Soul Purpose!
